Chassis Cab Details

DAF XDC Sleeper Cab

The DAF XDC sleeper cab is quiet comfortable and modern. Digital dashboards, improved vision around the cab are welcome additions to this latest generation. It sits on 4-point mechanical suspension, with a 3-piece steel bumper, and LED lights throughout.

The driver seat is air suspended with a foldable co-driver seat. Automatic climate control, DAF Infotainment Luxury Plus 10.1″ touchscreen delivers DAB, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, provide a comfortable driving experience. The Xtra Comfort mattress and variety of storage lockers are ready for over night work.

Driveline

Under the cab is the MX-11 10.8 L, 6 cylinder Euro 6 diesel engine, producing 450 hp and 2,350 Nm of torque. It’s paired with the ZF TraXon 12-speed automatic overdrive gearbox, providing both strong low-speed pulling power for site manoeuvring and efficient motorway cruising between jobs.

Peak torque arrives from 900 rpm and stays available through to 1,125 rpm, delivering steady pull-away when laden. DAF’s multi-torque feature adds extra pulling power in top gear, so motorway hill climbs don’t need a downshift. The engine mounted PTO provides constant drive to the mixer installation when the truck is running.

Axles & Braking

The 8×4 axle configuration consists of twin steering axles (2 × 7,100 kg), and SR1132T single-reduction rear tandem (2 x 9,500 kg). Both rear axles have mechanical cross-axle differential locks, with a mechanical inter-axle lock between them. Engaging locks ensures drive is even across all four drive wheels rather than lost to wheel spin.

Ventilated disc brakes with EBS, ASR anti-slip regulation, and an electro-pneumatic park brake that applies automatically when cab door is opened. This is supported with the MX Engine Brake, a compression brake that works with the exhaust brake. You slow with the driveline rather than the service brakes on long downhills, cutting wear and giving more control under laden braking.

Lighting & Electrics

Exterior lighting is fully LED: LED headlights with impact-resistant Lexan lenses, LED daytime running lights, LED fog lights in the bumper, and LED rear light clusters.

Beyond the standard fit, we can specify and install a full range of additional lighting, beacons, strobes, work lamps, and load-area floods, tailored to how and where you’ll be working. The electrical system runs on 24 V with a 110 A alternator and two 175 Ah batteries.

Fuel, AdBlue, Exhaust

Fuel is carried in a 340-litre aluminium tank on the left-hand side of the chassis. The MX-11 has an on-engine heated fuel pre-filter with a water separator, keeping the fuel system protected in cold weather and filtering out moisture contamination before it reaches the injectors.

The MX-11 meets Euro 6 through a combined DPF and SCR aftertreatment system, housed in the EAS unit behind the second front axle on the right. AdBlue is stored in a 45-litre tank below the battery box on the left, and exhaust gases discharge horizontally at the right-hand side through a low diffuser — keeping the outlet clear of the bodywork area and directing emissions away from kerbside foot traffic.

Service & Warranty

Every truck comes with DAF’s Warranty Plus package included as standard — a step up from the base DAF warranty:
Full vehicle: 2 years (covering all warrantable repairs)
Driveline: 3 years (engine, gearbox, and driven axles)

Extended warranty and repair-and-maintenance packages are available from DAF as optional upgrades — speak to us at order and we’ll tailor the cover to how hard you’ll be working the truck.

Bodywork Details

McPhee 9 m³ Drum

This is McPhee’s 9 m³ HARDOX mixing drum with a 3 mm shell. It sits on steel rollers and is driven using PMP components (gearbox, hydraulic pump and hydraulic motor). The hydraulic system is cooled using an Oesse fan oil cooler.

The drum can be accessed using the crows nest and fold down ladder, or using the two bolted manholes on either side. A washdown hose is available in the crows nest.

Drum Controls

The mixer drum direction and speed is controlled using a simple cable control mechanism, which is less prone to issues and easier to replace than electric controls, with levers in the cab and at rear the control station. The rear control station also has engine rev controls, a grease bank and slump metre.

Above the control station sits a Madellena water metre.

Hoppers & Chutes

Your hoppers and chutes are HARDOX 450 with additional replaceable wear plates, meaning once they’re worn through, you can cut them out and replace them, preserving the primary steel underneath.

The discharge chute can be swivelled and height adjusted using the crane arm underneath. There are two steel framed, plastic extension chutes hung on the off side of the install.

Water System

The concrete mixer water system is driven using a PMP water pump, using a 350 L aluminium water tank in its natural finish. There are two 1/2″ BSP inlet valves either side of the mixer that can be used to refill the water tank.

Warranty

The McPhee mixer installation is supplied with a range of warranty terms depending on the component in question.
