WE ARE BRUNEL AND WE ARE A LOT MORE THAN RECYCLING.

Cornwall based recycling specialists, Brunel Recycling Ltd, embark on new ventures with equipment from Kel-Berg.
Brunel Recycling Ltd are a waste and recycling specialist operating across the Cornwall area. Founded in the early 2000’s, the company humbly began as a skip hire company headed by David Venables. Since those early days, the company has grown to include equipment of all shapes and sizes including artic trailers, volumetric mixers, ROROs, tippers, grabs, skips, and even a rugby club.
A diverse portfolio of equipment warrants a diverse range of services which Brunel certainly delivers. You can call Brunel for all of your demolition, haulage, operated plant hire, site preparation, concrete lego block, and low loader hire needs. And all of this is operated out their single site in Saltash, Cornwall.
David Venables handed over the reigns to his son, Brian, in 2014 and since then Brian
has purchased the company and now runs it alongside his wife, Nadine, and his sister, Eleanor. Brunel has been and continues to be very much a family driven business. It was after 2014 that Brunel began to transition in to the recycling of building materials. Initially this included concrete and aggregates, which are Brunel’s most popular recycled products, but has since grown to wood, biomass and everything else you’ll find in the rubble heap on a building or demolition site.
On top of this, Brunel offer operated plant hire services using their Kel-Berg supplied Montracon MT45 low loader trailer, concrete demolition and, with the addition of their new sweeper, road sweeping services too. To support this, the Brunel fleet has grown to include 6 tippers, 2 grabs, 2 ROROs, a volumetric mixer, a low loader, a Kel-Berg T100 aggregate trailer, and a skip loader.
Primarily, Brunel opt for Mercedes when ordering new equipment, but they do have two
new Volvo FMXs on the way and their new DAF LF Sweeper. As you can see Brunel are pretty busy, but it’s activities are not limited to all things construction. Many of the Brunel team are ex-players for Plymouth Albion RFC and the company has long been one of its main sponsors. Unfortunately the club entered administration in 2016.
Brunel, not wanting to see their beloved club go under, bought it the same year and it is now managed by Brian’s brother Max. We spoke with Brian to get his thoughts on the new equipment and why he deals with Kel-Berg: “We got the sweeper because it fits in with what we do. It’s something that I’ve been thinking of and putting off, but you can’t offer something that you don’t have. So now we have the complete package, a one stop shop.
We love our T100 too, its a really well built trailer. We did have some minor issues to start with but these were sorted out straight away. We’re using it to transport our aggregates, and waste for recycled materials, from quarries to our regularly serviced sites in the south.
I come back to Kel-Berg because of the great service I receive and the flexibility. I like dealing with the people there and Kel-Berg usually have the equipment ready in their yard. I call Simon then in a couple of weeks its ready to pick up on time and as described”.
You can expect to see some of Brunel’s equipment being used on Balfour Beatty and Kier Utilities projects throughout the South West of England, from Redruth to Bristol.
